We are drawn to unravel mystery, to follow clues, to dig for things that are hidden. As children we play hide and seek, search for Waldo and four leaf clovers, dig in the dirt, do word search puzzles. Have we become too mature and serious and busy as adults to still be curious and seek?

(Part 1 – Day 5 Layers of Meaning)

‘Day 5′ was borne out of a deep, intense sorrow that flooded over me after reading an article condemning Intelligent Design and it’s use in public education. I was sobbing with unstoppable tears for 20 minutes.  A focused sadness over teachers and children grew to extreme grief for all who do not know God and are therefore unable to see Him in all of life. Day 5 began to grow and emerge as a design that at it’s deepest bone structure was a statement for The God of the Universe as Creator, a God of Order, Perfection, Beauty and Love.

I was awed and amazed to realize that my piece, ‘Day 5′ won Best of Show last night in Ciel Gallery’s International Juried Exhibition, Flights of Fancy.  What an honor! There were mosaics from across the world with a diversity of styles that gave a good picture of fine art mosaic.  If you were unable to attend but live near Charlotte, NC or would like to visit there is another opportunity to see the show during the next SouthEnd Gallery Crawl on Friday, May 7 from 6-9pm as well as by appointment with the gallery.

There was a lot of interest in the meaning of ‘Day 5′ and the symbolism used and I will be unlocking the layers of meaning on this blog in a series of posts beginning soon.
